After showing 100’s of homes and lots to potential residents in Lake Holiday there are a few questions that always seem to come up each time, so I thought I would put them together for our Internet visitors. How deep is the lake?
The lake gets up to 90 feet deep in areas. The lake was man made out of the crevices in the mountain we sit on and you can see some images of it’s construction in our HOA office. There is a steep drop off along most of the edges which makes it perfect for boating and swimming from waterfront docks and our sand beaches.

Does the water freeze over in the winter?
No, because of the depth the water maintains it’s heat and does not allow freezing. You will see some skimming along the edges, but it never gets thick enough to stand on. For this reason it is imperative to keep children safe around the lake all year round.

Does the lake level ever lower?
Having lived here for over 15 years I can tell you that the only time the lake was ever lower was when we created the new dam and had to lower it. The construction crew had to create a siphon to lower the lake 10 ft, and had to continually siphon water out in order to maintain that level. With our normal rain and snow falls the lake maintains it’s levels within 2 ft year round. We have two large creeks that feed the lake as well as runoff from the surrounding homes. After construction of the dam the water level returned to normal within 2 weeks.

How are the roads during snow?
All of our roads are private, so our maintenance staff is in charge of snow removal and all repairs. They do an excellent job with 24 hr response. Our roads are cleared before the county roads, which can be frustrating to parents that don’t understand why kids can’t go to school yet after a large snowfall!

Can I have a golf cart?
Yes! According to Frederick County you can operate golf carts in Lake Holiday! Only a couple of owners have them currently.

Can I have an ATV?
No. According to our HOA rules you cannot have an ATV and will be ticketed if you are found operating one.

How many guests can I have?
As a home owner or lot owner you can have as many guests as you like. Currently you can have 5 permanent guests on your guest list – that means you do not have to continually put them in the guest system, they can get in at any time. Any other guest you can call the front gate or register them online in your account when they are visiting. If you have a large guest list for an event you are asked to submit the names in writing to the office so they can prepare the front gate staff in advance.

Can I rent out my home as a vacation rental?
The shortest rental term in Lake Holiday is 6 months per the HOA rules. Short term rentals are not allowed. This helps keep our community safe, friendly, relaxing, and quiet – something we all enjoy!

Is Lake Holiday the Summit?
